How to Use Downloaded Fonts in Design Space – Learn how to use fonts downloaded from sites such as The Hungry JPEG or Dafont in Cricut's Design Space.
I was able to download it today. I will say the desktop program is VERY slow. I am really disappointed we will be forced to use this after January. Cricut Design Space is fantastic design software for Cricut Maker and Explore Air machines, giving you access to a plethora of patterns. Design Space is a program you can download on your devices and then create novel designs, import premade ones, or purchase those you like through the software itself.
One of the biggest questions that new Design Space users have is how to use fonts that they download in the Cricut software. Thankfully, I am here to show you exactly how simple it is.
To start, you will need to find the font you want to download. I previously shared a post on where to find high quality fonts (which make a huge difference when cutting, as you want a smooth cut), which offers some great ideas. My favorite is still The Hungry JPEG (THJ) because I love their $1 section and amazing commercial use licence, but I also love the $1 Deal Days that Font Bundles holds monthly.

If you are not going to be using your items for sale, there are many sites to download free fonts. However they are usually personal use only and aren't always the best quality to use in designs to be cut. You can definitely try them though, but I highly recommend trying the free weekly fonts, $1 deals, and font bundles out there.

Once you've picked the perfect font, you've completed the hardest part. I'm going to walk you through this process with a font I purchased from THJ, but it is the same for almost all sites.
Cricut Design Space Download For Macbook
Download the font to your computer (using the download button), and it will be delivered in a .zip format. It will usually pop up in your bottom toolbar, or you may have to go into your folders to find your downloads.
Unzip the folder. To do this, my Mac just requires me to click on it and it unzips. For PC users, right click and choose Unzip. Open it to see the font files. There may be two versions, a .ttf and a .otf. If so, I always choose the .otf version to install.
For Macs, right click and choose Open With –> Font Book, and then choose Install Font. For PCs, right click and choose install.
